A silly little sticker that said “smell the smut” at a bookish brunch that somehow didn’t stay a joke for long.

Instead of moving on like normal people, it turned into the running joke of the entire day prompted a questionable google search for “what does smut smell like” (the internet did not have answers).

The question stuck.

Because in the past, Dani has studied how scent links to memory, emotion, and feeling, her nerd brain shifted quickly from curiosity into something harder to ignore

what if a candle could actually capture the feeling of a book?

Once that idea landed, there wasn’t much coming back from it.

The kitchen became a testing ground. Scents were blended, adjusted, and reworked... originally just for friends who understood the obsession.

Then her mum (professional enabler) and brother (apparently down for anything) said: “let’s run it.”

So they did.

A small preorder, a few labels, an Instagram page, no real expectations.

And then people showed up... immediately getting it in a way that still doesn’t feel real.

Bound & Burned became something.

Something that now lives in your homes, on your shelves, and in actual bookstores and gift shops.

All because of a sticker.
